Angel, you came and filled our hearts with gladness
Your smiles, so sweet; they turned away the sadness
Your stay so brief, our hearts would burst with grief
But for the hope of seeing you again, with your wings so swift.
Peaceful is your sleep now, our dear little angel
The harsh world, you can no longer feel.
In your sleep, sweet dreams shall descend upon you
Our love and prayers shall fly high with you.
I thought I’ve lost it. But when I was cleaning my closet sometime last week, I found in my mementos box the home-made card I created for baby Yza in 2006. I pondered long and hard if I should post the poem here. I fear it would awaken grief in my friend, Salve, whose sister is Yza’s mother. But Salve says it’s alright, so here it is, my way of immortalizing the memory of one innocent soul who lighted up our world, though rather briefly.

girl, many thanks for writing this poem for our little angel back then. thanks to you and tayns, too, for letting me cry on your shoulders during that time. 🙂
Anytime, girl.
That — and more — is what friends are for. Di ba?
Love you girl…
