.
It’s summer; the sun’s smiling brightly
But autumn reigns inside me.
I feel like a tree who just lost a leaf
Because you left; now inside my heart
Is a terrible heartache.
Help me feel I am no tree
And you are not a leaf;
Instead, you are a river, and I am a creek.
Though we are from different worlds,
We came to travel side by side;
But the time has come that we must sail apart.
I flow on by, as I know you would.
Have faith, let us both believe
That we will intertwine somewhere, someday again.
And when we each reach destiny’s ocean
Trust that I will have a smile for you, my friend.
Until then.

For my good friends, Chie, Jing, and Tayns who have left this summer: Jing to join her husband in Canada; Tayns to pursue her MA in Japan, and Chie to seek a greener pasture in Qatar. Good luck to all of you. I am deeply saddened that we must live far from each other, but you are always in my heart. Don’t forget I am just a click away. I love you.
Written at the Relaksasi Spa @ Park Square I while waiting for my turn. The music is calming, and the scent is soothing to the soul.

Autumn in Summer
(Version 2)
It’s summer; the sun’s smiling brightly
But autumn reigns inside me.
Like a tree who just lost a leaf
Inside me, there is grief.
I am a vast sky on stormy nights
Forsaken by the moon, bereft of stars.
Help me feel I am no tree
And you are not a leaf;
You are a river, and I am a creek.
From different springs, we came together
To flow side by side
But the time has come that we must travel apart.
I flow on by, as I know you would.
Have faith, let us both believe
We will intertwine somewhere, someday again.
And when we each reach destiny’s ocean
Trust that we will be one water again, my friend.
Until then.
(I like version 2 better, but my sweetie loves the first version; so, the older one stays.)
Hello Michelle! Thank you so much.
I’d be spending time in your place as well.
🙂
Salve, girl. You’re right! 🙂 I’m already missing them! I’m just glad you had not left too. You’re here, and I know I can turn to you for anything, anytime. 🙂 Let’s just be their winds as they spread their wings, noh? In the same way that they are doing the same to us. Ah, friends, indeed are among this life’s treasures! 🙂
“That we will intertwine somewhere, someday”…interesting phrase 😉
Love your pic, like it is both mundane and otherworldly at the same time, fabulous.
We say goodbye to say hello once more.
What beautiful words and images. Some of the most beautiful things are the saddest. What a wonderful tribute to your friends!
Hiya dear!
Your poem has touched me so much! It reminded me of the time I had lost the love of my life. I was deeply saddened by that separation, but I believe that our paths will intertwine yet again. Love this poem!!! I just enjoy reading you!
By the way, looking around I can see some trees with falling leaves and Carlos and I were thinking, is it autumn? Your title nailed that!
More power, my dear!!!
Hello friends! Wow, you make my heart burst! 🙂
Tom, ah, so true, my friend. And after the bitterness of our goodbyes, the hellos would taste much sweeter! Well said! 🙂 I love the picture too! I’m thinking of making it my header. 🙂 We don’t have autumn in the Philippines, yet somehow, the picture turned out like… well… autumn in summer! 🙂
Mary K! First, I’d like to thank you for coming over my blog. I’m so humbled. And thank you. Somehow… you friends are making the ache in my heart go away, to be replaced by anticipation for when we say hello again.
Cathy! Hey, hey, hey, my dear. Mwah! I am so glad you could come here! I miss you! Wish we can get together soon. I am glad you like it. I had tears in my eyes when I wrote it. Ah… See you soon! Love you, girl! 🙂
