The Storm that Passed
February 29, 2008 by brainteaser
You deployed the mightiest of your thunders and lightning
And sent not your soft and gentle, but your howling winds
And the rains, you encouraged to pelt with threatening hiss
Against everything that crosses their paths and strays in their midst.
.
Your thunders stubbed my soul; your lightning charred my heart
Your shrieking winds plunged me into spiraling oblivion
Your assailing rains drowned me into unfathomable depths
And left me staring wide eyed at the callousness of your rage.
?
But there is a part of me you did not manage to crumble
I am the tree, the structure you failed to tear apart;
My roots that are deep, my foundation that is strong
They stood against your might and defied your wrath.
.
You’ve left, leaving in your wake landslides and broken roads
And an ugly scar that would forever be etched in my soul.
But the sun, her rays are always a balm that heals
She now comes out smiling; everything will soon clear.
.
.
Written after a trial that almost wrecked my soul
